Performx Mission: Why We Do What We Do for the Willamette Valley

Written by Team Performx | August 2024

We have already shared the Performx story of how we got to this point in time. But why do it? Why take this (weird), harder, and non-traditional physical therapy path? ๐Ÿค”

Why open up a physical therapy clinic that doesn't accept insurance in the way people are used to?

Why offer intensive (and sometimes draining) 1-on-1 physical therapy sessions that are hour long appointments without the help of aides or students?

Why hold ourselves accountable to not healing an injury 'good enough' but ensuring people actually surpass the goals they original set?

Why not take the easy route many healthcare professionals take of using language to scare people into using their services?

It really comes down to our mission and values as a company -

Performx sports and performance therapy exists to improve the lives of ALL athletes by helping them overcome their limitations to do those things that mean the most. ๐Ÿ‘Š

A few clarifying pieces here...

  1. ALL athletes includes you. If you're using your body and have the desire to push it a little bit further to do that thing you love, you're an athlete in our books.
  2. Limitations - these can be literal limitations of your body or the self-imposed ones in your mind (which are just as real).  As well as the ones that are there because of a flippant comment a doctor made once. We want to help you overcome all of them.
  3. Notice there's nothing in there about healing injuries or getting out of pain. These are by-products of what we do (odd, I know, for a physical therapist to say this).  ๐Ÿ‘‡

Honestly do you care if your shoulder has full range of movement or do you care about being being able to beat your MURPH time because your shoulders aren't killing you with every kip?

Do you care about your back being in perfect alignment or do you care about feeling confident that you can lift your kid out of the bathtub every day?

You get the point.

Performx exists to help people accomplish what is actually meaningful as we know A LOT of people who have put up with pain without complaint for a very long time.

It's only when it starts to stop you from doing that thing that it becomes worth the effort of fixing.

So why do things in the strange way we've chosen? Because doing things the traditional way doesn't allow us to fulfill that mission.

And it also doesn't align with our core values - the ones we try to use as filters for every action or decision we make - not just for some nice looking framed print up on the wall.

Here are just a few of the incredible milestones our patients have achievedโ€”moments we've had the privilege to be a part of that serve as the backbone of why we do what we do.

If our mission resonates and you'd like assistance overcoming any limitations, we'd love to talk.
